Plot
The film begins in 2008, with a man named Azhagar (Jai) being stabbed by a hooded figure as he is released from prison. The story then flashes back to 1980, where Azhagar and his four friends Paraman (M. Sasikumar), Kaasi (Kanja Karuppu), Dopa (Vichithran), and Thulasi (Swathi Reddy) live a happy and carefree life in Subramaniapuram, a suburb of Madurai. They are loyal to a local politician Somu (Samuthirakani), who helps them whenever they are in trouble. Somu also has a rivalry with another politician Kanugu (Pondy Ravi), who is supported by a powerful gangster Thillai (Ravimaria).
One day, Azhagar falls in love with Thulasi, the daughter of a Brahmin priest. Thulasi reciprocates his feelings, but her family is opposed to their relationship due to their caste differences. Meanwhile, Paraman decides to contest in the local elections against Kanugu, with the support of Somu. However, Somu betrays Paraman and joins hands with Kanugu, fearing that Paraman might become more popular than him. Somu also orders his men to kill Azhagar and Thulasi, but they manage to escape with the help of Kaasi and Dopa.
Feeling betrayed and humiliated, Paraman and his friends decide to take revenge on Somu. They hatch a plan to assassinate him during a public rally, using a stolen rifle. They succeed in shooting Somu, but are unable to escape from the scene due to the heavy police presence. They are chased by Thillai's men, who kill Kaasi and Dopa. They decide to fight till the end, and kill many of their enemies before being shot dead by the police.
The film ends with a scene in 2008, where it is revealed that the hooded figure who stabbed Azhagar was Thillai's son, who wanted to avenge his father's death.
